A long time ago, I wrote a blog post that I titled “funny kickball team names” because I was proud to have come up with the name “The 21st Amendments” for our Hyde Park, NY team in the New Deal Leauge.  I thought it would encourage other people to come up with fun FDR-era names, but alas.  Instead, what happened was that I got dozens of hits on that site.  So I created a page and listed all the funny names in WAKA.  Then I got hundredes of hits.  One day, I got thousands, and someone said, “uh, did you think of maybe monetizing all that work you did?”

I was all, “no.  I write down funny team names as a public service.”  That was back when I had a job.  That was 2007, when we all had jobs.  Now it’s 2009, and I’m trying to recover from a full year of underemployment.  I hope this site helps, and if I can encourage creative team naming in the world, well, that’s just gravy.
